THE CENTER FOR APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL & GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY

About the Center

OUR MISSION

The mission of HU’s Center for Applied Environmental and Geospatial Technology is to prepare students for successful careers utilizing geospatial technology. The Center provides experiential learning for students through professional development, challenging projects/grants, and current technology exposure, which focuses on interdisciplinary competencies.

OUR VISION

Harrisburg University, and in turn, the Center for Applied Environmental and Geospatial Technology, will be recognized as a preeminent applied environmental and geospatial technology professional development and service provider.

The Center will offer students opportunities for professional development and for engagement in a diverse set of revenue generating projects.

OUR HISTORY

In 2012, the Geospatial Technology Center (GTC) was created to expand the Geospatial Technology Program from the traditional classwork college degree. The GTC allowed students to gain valuable work experience while applying the skills they learned in class to real-world client projects and grants.

The GTC gained more clients and grants, allowing the Center to grow and employ students from a diverse set of majors including the Geospatial Technology, Environmental Science, Integrative Science, Forensics, Advanced Manufacturing, and Interactive Media programs.

The creation of the Center for Applied Environmental and Geospatial Technology employs 10 students, three full-time staff members, and two Center directors, who are also faculty members at Harrisburg University. Today, the Center provides students an opportunity to work on multiple different projects in a variety of industries – preparing them for success after graduation.
