That is an increase of 10,178 from the previous day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\"><strong>Deaths<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The health department has added a total of 215 new deaths statewide, raising today&#8217;s total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 17,394.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Positivity rate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Statewide percent positivity for the week of December 25 \u2013 December 31 stood at 15.0%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hospitalizations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are 5,491 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, near double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,113 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
